BOTANICAL EXPEDITION

Juan Eloy Valenzuela y Mantilla
The story of Rosas Don Eloy is deeply rooted in the botanical legacy of the Germán-Ribón family, whose passion for nature and plants dates back seven generations, to the illustrious Eloy Valenzuela.
Born in 1756 in San Juan de GirĂłn, Colombia, Eloy Valenzuela showed an unwavering interest in the study of nature from a young age. This early calling led him to become a multifaceted figure, excelling as a theologian, botanist, philosopher, mathematician, historian, physician, herbalist, social leader, and parish priest of the Bucaramanga Parish. His life and work left an indelible mark on the history of botany and social progress in Colombia.
In 1783, Valenzuela joined as deputy director of the Royal Botanical Expedition, one of the most significant scientific enterprises of the time. Alongside José Celestino Mutis, he conducted numerous investigations on various plants, discovering new species and exploring their medicinal and utilitarian properties. His contribution to botanical science was invaluable and continues to be recognized today.
This botanical lineage and love for nature have been a continuous source of inspiration for the Colombian luxury flower shop. By paying tribute to his ancestor, Rosas Don Eloy perpetuates the family tradition of appreciating and celebrating the beauty and value of plants.
Thus, Rosas Don Eloy not only represents excellence in floral art but also carries with it a rich botanical heritage, honoring Eloy Valenzuela and his contribution to science and the community.
